Artefact
The final artefact explores an abstract interpretation of the data we cannot see which in this case is the carbon footprint we contribute everyday just by surfing the Internet.
Description
Since our carbon footprint emission is intangible, it is hard to visualize these numbers that are contributing to our Earth’s atmosphere and global warming. For my artefact, I wanted to have an abstract representation of how many “atoms” are floating around. However, instead of using shapes with a solid color, I wanted these objects to have an organic and glowly form to them which hopefully will be engaging to interact and look at. When the user drags their mouse over the canvas, multiple of these shapes with gradients will burst into the frame that will gradually disperse into the spaces. The shapes that the user has generated will also slowly move to the right, allowing the user to generate more in the increasing blank space and thus, more carbon footprint.
